A Candid Review of “Renaissance Redneck” Yikes!!!!!!!

Screen Shot 2014-03-03 at 3.30.08 PMI’m glad I met Gina and Randy Elrod before I knew he was THAT pastor from Franklin. THAT pastor who caused the upheaval and disgrace … (who should rot in hell, maybe?) … and then had the nerve to write a book about it!

Write a book he did. Baggage all-out-on-the-table honest, and layered with eye-opening observations pitting reason against perception.

Most of all, I’m enthralled with Randy’s writing and how he can so masterfully turn a phrase! As a writer myself, I found myself thinking, “I wish I’d said that.”

For instance:

“Her heart had hardened to both the good and the bad.”
“An anger that carries too much advice”
And my favorite: “Religion is a way of life where NO is said with such constancy that on some days one might forget that YES is a possibility.”

I’ve been told I use too many exclamations marks in my writing. When it comes to Renaissance Redneck, sorry, I just can’t control it!
