My Top Ten “Naughty and Nice” List For 2010

1. NaughtyHugh Hefner rang in the holidays with an engagement ring to Crystal Harris, 24, who is SIXTY years his junior. The Playboy founder announced on Twitter. “After the movie tonight, Crystal & I exchanged gifts. I gave Crystal a ring. A truly memorable Christmas Eve,” Hefner, 84, wrote. “When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears. This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory.”

2. NiceOprah Winfrey. She continues to give away her favorite things to those lucky enough to be at the unannounced Oprah Winfrey show. This year iPads, shopping sprees, Volkwagen Beetles and much more.

3. NaughtyJohn Kerry. The senior senator skipper has no qualms voting to raise our taxes, but had the gall this year to try to skirt paying $437,000 in sales tax to Massachusetts by berthing his new $7 million, 76-foot yacht in Rhode Island. Sadly — for him — Long John and the missus were shamed into ponying up to the commonwealth after their luxury yacht Isabel, surprise, surprise, summered in Nantucket. Which is in Massachusetts. What was it that the late Leona Helmsley once said? “Only the little people pay taxes.” Shame, shame, shame . . .

4. NiceInvestor Warren Buffett and Microsoft founder Bill Gates announced on Wednesday that they are asking hundreds of billionaire Americans to give away at least 50 percent of their wealth to charity. “We agree with Andrew Carnegie’s wisdom that ‘The man who dies rich, dies disgraced,’ and we also believe ‘he who gives while he lives also knows where it goes.’” “Philanthropy is unbelievably rewarding.”

5. NaughtyRex Ryan. The New York Jets coach really put his foot in it when videos he allegedly made of his wife Michelle’s lovely toes hit the Internet. He didn’t even try to deny that he and the missus had posted the flicks with titles such as “Hot Mature Sexy Feet” on various foot-fetish Web sites. That led TMZ.com to dub not-so-sexy Rexy “The Tarantino of Tootsies.”

6. Nice — Australia and New Zealand. Australia and New Zealand shared first place in a list of the most generous countries in the world (United States tied for fifth) in a first-of-its kind survey ranking 153 nations on the willingness of their citizens to donate time and money to charity.

7. NaughtyMiley Cyrus. After making headlines this year for her skimpy outfits, sexually charged performances, and smoking salvia from a bong, Miley Cyrus has vowed to be a changed woman in 2011. In a recorded message to fans, the 18-year-old “Hannah Montana” star claims she is dedicating her life to helping others. “I’m really looking forward to 2011,” says Cyrus, who is seen coloring with her 10-year-old sister Noah. “ I’ve got some new ideas, I want to go on some cool trips, I want to travel, I want to make this the year that I go out and do what I’m here to do, and that’s to help people and make people happy. That would certainly be a relief to her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus. After video of Miley smoking the hallucinogenic herb salvia surfaced earlier this month, he apologized to fans and tweeted, “Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. I’m so sad.”

8. Nice — Members of the American Military. Sure, nice seems to be a trite word for the bravery and service of our military, but they should be celebrated every possible opportunity. Salute!

9. Naughty Heidi Klum and husband Seal’s chemistry is red-hot for his music video “Secret.”  Heidi describes the concept behind the shoot as “the story of two people in love. My husband is what I always wanted and never thought I would have.” Seal commented, “The song, the movie, it’s the story of our love.”  It’s a sensual and beautiful look at the real-life married couple.

10. Nice Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. Founded by the Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training. Today, Compassion helps more than 1 million children in 26 countries.

Nice: Thanks to some of you guys from the Franklin campus on Twitter, I “adopted” a 5 yr old little boy through Compassion International. His letters and the pics he has drawn and colored for me (one is an airplane, and I hope to go see him some day), are the highlight of my day when I receive them in the mail. I am trying to help David and his family, but I am the one rewarded with gifts of a far away friendship, not them!

Naughty: The people who made false claims of flood damage to get government money thus taking money away from families who really needed the help.

    How could I resist?
    Naughty
The Franklin police for their efforts to destroy tourism by ticketing downtown shoppers, laying traps enroute to events, and generally choosing the worst times of mornings to check for insurance for young drivers enroute to school.

    Nice
The residents of Franklin, who in the worst of times with the flood, pulled together and helped one another through the difficulties. Who consistently show the outside residents of life the way to engage as a community.

@Sweetie Berry, Thanks, Sweetie. I do feel that it is our city government—not the policeman themselves who are naughty. Someone is mandating the excessive fines.

And your “nice” point could not be more well taken. It was unbelievable how Nashville pulled together. I should not have missed that!
