My Watercolor Video Time Lapse of Amy Grant’s “Father’s Eyes”

I’m honored to be one of the artists commissioned to depict one of Amy Grant’s classic songs in watercolor. I have chosen “Father’s Eyes.” The original watercolor will be auctioned off during Amy’s upcoming “Pieces of Our Lives” fall tour that will benefit the Leadership Development Program of Compassion, International.

You can find the tour dates HERE. Please do not miss this intimate evening of music and art with Amy Grant. It will be a night you will never forget. When you get your ticket, please tell them you heard about it on Randy’s blog or Twitter.

We thought it would be fun to let you watch as I paint the watercolor in a 2 minute time lapse video. My son-in-law Ben Smallbone filmed this first draft of the video. If you have broadband, choose HD quality.

You may purchase limited edition archival giclee prints below. Prices are as follows:

Hey Randy, as someone whose artistic talent is limited to stick figures that video blows my mind. Beautiful piece of art and you make it look so effortless. Glad to see you doing this for such a wonderful cause.

Wow! Randy, I count it an honor to have stood in the sacred space of your studio and now I’ve witnessed, in this video, the sacred acts of brush applied to paper that take place in your studio. What an honor to be invited into this space with you as you work.

I remember that song well. I’m not sure if it was my boy-hood crush on Amy Grant or my first love of Contemporary Christian Music, but a combination of those two led me to the point of wearing that cassette out! You’re interpretation with the Father peering over the shoulder to catch a glimpse of the child in the mirror is perfect.

Well done my friend, and thank you for letting us share the moment of creation.

I have no words….once again, my 16 yr old was watching over my shoulder and was amazed as well! She is an artist still struggling to find her niche so I try to expose her to different art design and creative concepts. Thank you for sharing this so I could share with her!!!

@bluegoose, Thanks so much. She will find her niche. It just takes time and a great parent like you who exposes her to myriad art and forms. Hang in there!
