Sexual abuse of children is a pervasive and horrific problem throughout all religions, as institutional assumptions and procedures tend to protect predators and harm victims. In this painting, I have listed only a handful of religious leaders convicted of sexual crimes against minors. I found thousands of names after only a few minutes of searching online. The convictions and the cover-ups are shocking and yet another reason why I hate institutions such as religion and the state. The church “reassigns” guilty parties to other churches in much the same way as the police.
