The Four Most Important Words In Life

The Four Most Important Words In Life

These four words determine our capacity for enjoyment. They provide meaning in life. And they have the power to quieten the confused noise within. These four words paint a stunning panorama of one’s most passionately held beliefs and ideas. They comprise all the affections, the thoughts, the joy, and the faith of a lifetime. They are symbols of unity, security, permanence, entity, and strength.

These words help us make peace with ourselves, even through life’s significant transitions, and help a person face the question of whether in their life they have satisfied the ideas which they have built up within themselves as to what they should be and that all this is not a matter of priests and religion but of the individual alone.

The four words are unique to everyone yet surprisingly easy to identify. If we take time to identify and integrate these words and these essentials, we will achieve wholeness. Essentials are the most significant elements and qualities of a person. Thus, these four words comprise what is essential to being who we truly are. If we can only help others by giving, not a part of ourselves but the whole, then it behooves us to know what that “whole” is.

In my theory of being, I teach four aspects of being:

  1. Physical, Body (our physical nature)
  2. Mental, Mind (our rational nature that feels, perceives, thinks, wills, and reasons)
  3. Emotional, Soul (our emotional nature, both biological and biographical)
  4. Spiritual—Spirit (our moral nature, not in a religious sense)

Take a few moments and identify ten words that best describe each aspect of being. Then, narrow it down to the top four and choose the one word that best describes each of the four aspects of being. Don´t be overly concerned about having the perfect word at first. As you explore this idea, you will know when the right word crystallizes. Also, these words can change as one ages and matures.

For example, mine are:

Physical–Sensuality (click to read more)

Mental–Curiosity (click to read more)

Emotional–Communion (click to read more)

Spiritual–Freedom (click to read more)

Gina´s are:

Physical–Fitness

Mental–Organization

Emotional–Empathy

Spiritual–Nurture

To put them in a sentence, I am a sensual and curious person who needs communion and freedom.

Gina is an empathic nurturer who needs fitness and organization.

In a nutshell, these sentences describe Randy and Gina as whole beings, who they truly are at their essence- their most significant elements and qualities. When they have daily activities, people, places, and memories that encompass and integrate these essentials, the result is unity, security, permanence, entity, and strength–in a word, WHOLENESS. Thus, they are the Four Most Important Words In Life.

To explain further, I simultaneously employ all four essentials: running, meditating, making love, cooking, reading, writing, painting, spending time with like-minded people, and exploring Barcelona. That is why I enjoy these things so much. They are life-giving to me, and I ruthlessly try to enjoy as many as possible each day for the rest of my life.

What are yours? Take some time and identify your four words. It could be the most crucial task you accomplish in life.
